With C.A.R.E. Diesel® to the Black Sea

Last summer we had the amazing opportunity to test out C.A.R.E. Diesel®. Curious how this went? Then keep on reading!

Diesel Pest

Do you still remember our truck was suffering from a major diesel contamination problem, also known as Diesel Pest?  Due to the spreading of the contamination time between changing filters became increasingly shorter and the torque issues more apparent: acceleration time tripled and they barely could reach 90km/hr (instead of their previous maximum speed of 120km/hr).

Diesel pest is such a persistent and difficult to deal with problem, we had to have our tank professionally cleaned. We also replaced all the filters and the 30-year-old fuel lines.

C.A.R.E. Diesel®

This innovative diesel is organic, but nothing like conventional biodiesel. C.A.R.E. stands for:

  • C: CO2-Reduction
  • A: Arctic Grade
  • R: Renewable
  • E: Emission Reduction

Our experience with C.A.R.E. Diesel®

While filling up the tank we (as well as the man in the repair shop) were surprised how crystal clear – “like water” – C.A.R.E. Diesel® really is.  Not to mention the lack of the conventional diesel odor.

It really is strange to fill your tank with something that completely doesn’t resemble regular diesel at all. Where we really using diesel? Or did we make a mistake and added water instead? 😉

We were now ready to start our journey to the Black Sea in Romania. Approx. 1100km into our trip – the distance that was driven with the previous filters – we rechecked our diesel system. The difference was immense: no sign of contamination. The filters were still in a pristine state.

(Update: After switching back to regular diesel [and even installing a new diesel tank], we noticed signs of the diesel pest returning. We concluded that with regular diesel we need to add an additive to combat any contamination.)

But that was not the only observation we made. The motor of our expedition truck ran notably quitter, due to the higher cetane level in C.A.R.E. Diesel®. Plus we no longer covered the road in black exhaust smoke.

CONCLUSION: C.A.R.E. Diesel® improved the performance and driving enjoyment of this expedition truck.

  1. Hi Elmer,

Never heard about that CARE stuff… Where do I get that? How is the price compared to “real” Diesel?

    Kind regards,
    Thomas

  2. Perhaps this story was infact a means of advertising CARE…because as you mentioned a simple additive solves the problem…please be a little more subtle when pushing products in return for “reimbursement”.

    1. Hi Bob,

We understand your concerns. We always try to review products honestly, as we experienced them. Most of these products are not sponsored at all. And when we do receive a discount or any other type of sponsoring we don’t like to be “subtle” about that fact. It’s not something we want to hide from all of you. We personally dislike it when people do that.
When we are given the opportunity to test something, we take in consideration if it’s valuable to our readers and if we ourselves are interested in it. As such you will never see us testing cat food.
We were kindly offered the opportunity to test CARE-diesel, because we had serious issues right then with diesel pest and had a trip to Romania all planned. The contamination was so bad at that moment that no additive would have helped.
In contrast to any additive, which is like treating the early symptoms (or putting a Band-Aid on an open wound), CARE Diesel completely takes the problem out of the equation (since it does not have any diesel pest problem as regular diesel does, and therefore doesn’t requires any treatment). And this is only one of its benefits. As such, we don’t have any problem voluntarily advertising it.
We hope this clarifies it more and take some of your concerns away.

      Happy travels,
      Nicole & Elmer

    1. Hi Shaun,

We are currently using the one in the picture. When we test others we will let you know.
